From the blogs my peers have created in this course, I have learned much. First when reading Amani's post about teacher's salary, I learned what the average salary of a teacher is compared to the average cost of living in TN. Her post was geared towards wanting teachers to be paid more. This post really resonated with me because as a future educator myself, I agree with her and her stance on wanting teachers to be paid more because of the work they do for future generations. Next, when reading Katie's post about cyberbullying it made me think of the technological advancements in society today and the world my students will grow up in. As an educator, this post made me think about how to stay alert when it comes to my students on the internet and how to keep them from cyberbullying. Finally, when reading Camille's blog post about the whole child approach it made me think about myself as a future educator and implementing this mindset in the classroom. I feel as though often teachers focus on a child's academic success more than how a child is doing in general. With the whole child approach, the student is the main focus and is supported fully based on their needs. With this approach, it's not just their academic needs being met but instead one is focusing on the child as their whole-self.
Finally, blogging for me has been a new and interesting experience as I have enjoyed getting to create a blog as well as different blog posts. Blogging is definitely something I could see myself doing when I have my own classroom one day. If I was to blog as an educator, I would most likely use my blog to showcase my students' work and my classroom environment. Similar to Ms.Cassidy's classroom blog, I would want to focus more on my students and their experiences in my classroom. Therefore, I have definitely enjoyed this short experience with blogging and it has caused me to think about if blogging could be a tool for me to use in the future.
